Bread and Bubbles

Coconut bread (or banana if you remembered to bring them) and bubble mountains were on the agenda today at Tech. The spherical shape of bubbles or, the surface tension, was discussed in science and the chemical reaction of baking powder, as a raising agent, discussed in cooking.

Community and Service

Today some of Room 8 were given the opportunity to support and serve the younger members of our community at St Patrick's. Their job was to make sure all of Room 6 were logged into their Chromebooks ready for learning. Great job Room 8... Room 6 are now ready to start their digital journey! Thanks to Mrs Collins for the photos.

Powhiri on Tech day

Just some of the Room 8 clan...

Today at Tech we were welcomed with a Powhiri.
We are now no longer Manuhiri!

Bubbles made in science and jams made in cooking followed by Rippa Rugby played in 29 Degrees C. Great, if not very hot day, had by all!

Taking Charge

Beautiful morning under the canopy. Always great to see our seniors taking charge and begin to shine as role models for our tamariki. Ka pai Room 8.

From writing to science

Great transition today from writing an Explanation on the importance of washing hands to the Life Cycle of Pin Worms. Just another example of those unplanned, wonderfully rich teaching moments...those moments that transfix the audience causing discussion and those 'Oh No, YUK' announcements!

Tech has begun!

Today was the first day of Technocraft at Pakuranga Intermediate. Year 7's enjoyed their first session of science and the Year 8's cooking. I enjoyed visiting each class and seeing Room 8 kids represent
St Patrick's with respect and pride. Well Done!!
