Sharing the Love During Lent

Lent it is a time to cleanse our hearts, to release ourselves from greed, almsgiving and in that respect to share. After Room 8's fabulous St Patrick's Day they had a job to do. They wanted to give, not only their time, but also their playdough! An invite was sent to our beautiful Room 2 children to come and join us for some tuakana teina time. When the children arrived they were a little shy but at the end they felt right at home! We farewelled Room 2, sending them home with a large bag of green playdough for next weeks learning adventure. Thanks Room 2 and we are looking forward to more tuakana teina time.

St Patricks Day

Today, at St Patrick's we celebrated our Patron Saint... St Patrick. We began our day with a beautiful Mass where we celebrated St Patrick and also prayed for those friends we lost on Friday in Christchurch.

Our Year 7 & 8's visited our wonderful Marian Centre where bubbles, and lots of them, were on the menu for fun. We're not sure who actually enjoyed themselves more...the big kids or little kids?

Mid day was spent playing games and supporting each other with our wonderful Senior lead Teams and community spirit.

Our final adventure was making green playdough---of course with green glitter.

Great St Patrick's Day St Patricks!
Thank you to the wonderful students and staff of St Patricks School who shared their love, faith and kindness, making our community a real 'Community.'

This week Xavier represented St Patrick's School at a Manaiakalani admin meeting where he shared a presentation about the Fencibles. He was part of a collaborative group who used Google Slides to create an animation. Check it out and consider how many hours it would have taken the group to create!

From solid to liquid to gas... just add a bit of energy in the form of heat! Great day at science today. It was especially good to hear the continually reiterated discussion around safety within the lab.

Meanwhile in the cooking room... another science experiment was taking place. The Year 8's were using yeast as a raising agent to make bread scrolls. When I arrived they were taking the trays out of the warming drawer and placing them into the oven for the final bake.
The smells were amazing but my preference was definitely from the cooking room!

Sharing Across Clusters

Tuhi Mai, Tuhi Atu

We are very excited to shortly begin our new class blogging programme and hope to build our confidence and our understanding of Learn Create Share over the year.

We are ready as a class to connect, collaborate, support our cybersmart learning, and utilise our classroom blog as a powerful tool with you and hope that you will find it engaging and inspiring through reading and writing the comments we make and those you leave behind on our class (and in time) individual blogs.

By using Tuhi Mai, Tuhi Atu we will harness our understanding of Learn, Create, Share and we are confident that with an authentic audience who will regularly comment, the learning we are sharing will develop too.

Welcome to our Tuhi Mai, Tuhi Atu team...we are so excited to get to know you and share our learning. We hope that we can create new ideas to support our connections and collaborations together.
