 The Impact of Fred Hollows

Australian-Kiwi man Fred Hollows lived the life changing the lifestyles of others through his skill as an ophthalmologist. This remarkable story of his has been expressed by me in this poem I wrote about his accomplishments and how much he provided to this world. When reading it, have look and find a little quote he said in on the phrases. Hint: The words are the first words for each phrase near the ending bit.

  1. An inspiring poem for an inspirational man. Thank you for Aleenah for reminding us about Fred Hollows and his exceptional work restoring sight for those in remote areas who not only had no sight but also no voice.

  4. Aleenah, what a wonderful poem to dedicate to Fred Hollows and his team, especially during this week, being Social Justice Week, which focuses on The Beatitudes. As you have so beautifully portrayed, he lived by what he believed in and don't you think he was a living example of "Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God," and "Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, they will be satisfied?" He dedicated his entire life to the service of others and what a gift he gave to both the rich and poor. The line in your poem that resonates with me is "Each being would be able to stare, Other people had really cared." Beautifully crafted, Aleenah. Well done

  5. Thank you Aleenah for an awesome poem for an inspirational man. A man who fought for justice especially for those who couldn't afford or access basic eye care in remote areas. Your poem portrayed the values and beliefs of this great man. Ka Rawe!!!
